A recognized leader in long-term care and gerontological nursing, Charlotte Eliopoulos has dedicated over thirty years to the advancement of these specialties. She has served in a variety of positions ranging from nursing assistant to director of nursing, and pioneered such roles as clinical specialist in gerontological nursing in the acute medical service of the Johns Hopkins Hospital and state specialist in gerontological nursing for the Maryland Department of Health. She published the first book ever written on nursing administration in long-term care in the early 1980s which contributed to the birth of this nursing specialty. She is a popular speaker and currently serves as the Executive Director of the newly formed American Association for Long Term Care Nursing.
Charlotte has written 19 books, several of which have multiple editions; they include Gerontological Nursing 6th edition, Nursing Administration of Long-Term Care 6th edition, DON Guide for Excellence in LTC, LPN Guide for Excellence in LTC, and Staff Development Handbook for Long-Term Care Facilities. She also has written numerous book chapters and articles. She is certified in gerontological nursing by the American Nurses’ Association and in nursing administration in long-term care by NADONA/LTC.
Ron Romano’s unique experience and education equip him well for his role. He attended the University of Cincinnati where he majored in marketing and management, and also graduated from Deaconess Hospital School of Nursing, affiliated with Xavier University. Ron is currently enrolled at Sacred Heart University working toward his Masters Degree in Nursing.
Ron has served the profession of nursing in various capacities for the past 22 years, from his first nursing position at Shriner’s Burn Institute for Children to his most recent position as Director of Operations and Professional Services for NADONA/LTC. During his 5+ years with them, Ron strategically positioned NADONA/LTC to become one of the most respected professional nursing associations in long term care. Some of the accomplishments included expanded education resources and support for members, a 300% increase in membership and growth in annual revenue from $400,000 to $3 million.
Prior to joining NADONA/LTC Ron worked for the Hill-Rom Company in the Long Term Care Division for 12 years. He was one of the first to work in the Long Term Care market, visiting thousands of LTC facilities across the United States to educate nurses on pressure ulcer management. Ron was promoted through the ranks of Hill-Rom in a variety of sales positions and eventually managed the National Accounts Group. As the Director of National Accounts Ron lead his team to provide pressure ulcer support programs and products for nearly all major LTC chains. His career also includes serving as Director of Sales and Marketing for Caretenders of Ohio where he was responsible for supervising the visiting nurse program, many times providing direct care to homecare patients and working as a Medical Case Manager for Intracorp, a division of Cigna, coordinating care for catastrophic cases. Mr. Romano has spent the majority of his 26 year professional career caring for older adults who required long term care and is a well-respected member in the LTC profession.
The Long Term Care Profession has long been a personal and professional passion of Ron’s. He is excited about the opportunity to continue to support the specialty of LTC Nursing and the nursing staff who commit so much on a daily basis to provide care and comfort to residents. Ron’s decision to join the American Association of LTC Nursing (AALTCN) is motivated by the desire to make a greater contribution through uniting all categories of nurses who practice in long term care. This will be accomplished through providing educational resources, advocacy, and promoting a positive image of the specialty of long term care nursing.

Prior to joining Health Education Network, George served as a partner and operations’ executive in a major commercial printing company. He is experienced in all phases of business operations, sales, marketing, and customer service.

Wound Care Expert Nancy Morgan WCEI founding partner Nancy Morgan has been an RN for more than 16 years and a certified wound care nurse for approximately 14 years. In addition to being a Certified Wound Care Nurse and an enterostomal therapist, Nancy is a nursing entrepreneur with an MBA. She is a dynamic public speaker and international presenter who still conducts much of the hands-on training and wound care education for WCEI. Her motivational teaching style has inspired health care professionals across the nation. It was Nancy’s entrepreneurial spirit that led her to co-create the Wound Care Education Institute (WCEI).
Diabetes Expert Anne Nettles MSN CS APRN Anne is a national and international consultant and speaker who has extensive diabetes-related experience including 15 years of post-graduate practice as a diabetes nurse specialist for the University of Minnesota Hospital and Clinics. Anne has developed special skills in health systems approaches, medical management, and novel professional/patient education methods. She is the recipient of the Distinguished Service Award from the American Association of Diabetes Educators for her contribution to advanced practice and research. Anne served 3 years on the national board of the American Association of Diabetes Educators and chaired its Research Committee. She also has chaired the Department of Health Diabetes Steering Committee recently and taught at two state universities. Anne is board certified in advanced diabetes management BC-ADM and works with a national network of diabetes specialists.
